Ancestor Network Collaborator Ordained a Deacon

By June 8, 2017 June 21st, 2017 General Genealogy News

The whole of the Ancestor Network team would like to congratulate Michael Rooney and his family on the occasion of his ordination as a deacon. The ceremony took place in a packed Roman Catholic cathedral of Newry on Sunday last, the Feast of Pentecost.

Michael has been collaborating with Ancestor Network for a number of years and is “our key man” for research in the northern counties of Ireland. He is also a very valued member of the Ancestor Network team who provide assistance to the National Library of Ireland’s Genealogy Advisory Service travelling to Dublin all the way from his home in Dromore, Co Down in Northern Ireland.

Michael is a historian and a graduate in Ancient History and Byzantine Studies with a strong interest in genealogy.

Taking on a challenge is nothing new to Michael. His new role as an ordained deacon in the Seapatrick parish will, we hope, be as rewarding as it will be challenging. We wish Michael every success in his new role and look forward to his continuing close involvement with Ancestor Network and presence in the National Library.
